A gentle start, at your child’s pace.
Starting nursery is a big step for children and parents. We plan every settling-in with you, and we never rush it.
Your settling-in, step by step
We agree a plan with you before your start date and adjust it as we go.
Meet your key personWe’ll talk about your child’s routine: feeds, naps, comforters, what soothes them and what they love.
Short visits togetherYou and your child spend time in the room together, so they get to know their key person while you’re close by.
Short times apartYou pop out for a little while, then a bit longer. We’ll keep in touch and tell you how it went.
Building up to full daysWhen your child is happy and settled, we build up to their usual days. Some children take a few visits, some take more.
Checking inAfter the first few weeks, your key person will talk with you about how your child is getting on.
Your first-day bag
- Two or three changes of clothes, labelled
- A comforter or dummy, if your child uses one
- Expressed milk or your usual formula, clearly labelled
- Clothes for the weather: sun hat or warm hat, and a waterproof layer
- Any creams or medicines, with a signed consent form
Nappies, wipes, suncream and all meals are included. We’ll send a full welcome pack before your start date.
Making it easier
- Keep goodbyes short, warm and consistent
- Tell us about any change at home, like a new tooth, a bad night or a new food
- Give yourself time too. It’s normal to find the first weeks hard
- Call us any time to ask how your child is doing
Save your child’s place on our waiting list.
It takes two minutes and there’s no commitment. We’ll keep you updated and invite you to see the nursery before we open.
